Have you ever looked at a spa menu and felt overwhelmed, and don’t know which facial works for you? In order for your facial to deliver the results you want, it’s important to know the different types of facials for your skin concerns and skin type. The right facial, along with a great esthetician can improve your skin after just one session! We’re here to walk you through some of our favorite facials for different skin types.
Medical-grade facials vs skin rejuvenation
Before we go into our favorite facials, it’s important to know and understand the difference between medical-grade facials and skin rejuvenation facials. Medical-grade facials are non-invasive facials that deliver long-term effects on the skin. They are great for different concerns such as dark spots, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles, as well as acne scars. They are more advanced treatments, and should definitely be done by a licensed esthetician, who has received proper training. Regular facial treatments that offer skin rejuvenation also deliver results, especially if you’re looking for a facial that delivers glowing skin, hydration, or a pick-me-up to maintain your skin looking and feeling healthy.
Dry or dehydrated skin/Sensitive Facial:
If your skin is in desperate need of hydration, and it feels very dry, looks dull, or if you have flaky skin, you want to make sure you get a facial that’s going to deliver hydration to the skin that lasts.
The HydraFacial is an amazing facial for dry skin, as well as congested skin, breakouts, black pores, and sensitive skin. It provides gentle exfoliation and deeply cleanses the pores, and contains salicylic acid to prevent breakouts. It doesn’t just cleanse the skin, but it also uses hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin. The result is a healthy glow. There are different types of HydraFacials to choose from and can be customized for additional benefits. When combined with a lymphatic drain it helps get rid of toxins! Overall it’s a great facial that can treat different conditions and it’s great for any skin type. Goodbye dry skin, hello hydrated skin!
Sagging Skin or Mature Skin:
As we age, and we produce less collagen, our skin loses elasticin, which leads to sagging skin. If you have mature skin or are looking for a treatment that boosts collagen production, or that helps tighten the skin, we highly recommend getting a HIFU Facial or a Microcurrent Facial.
The HIFU Facial is an FDA-approved facial treatment that is a non-invasive facelift. It uses focused ultrasound technology that targets the cells under the skin. It heats up those cells to boost the levels of collagen in the skin. There’s little to no downtime, and over time, your skin will be rejuvenated. It’s a great alternative to surgery, and it slows down the aging process. However, this treatment is ideal for those with mild signs of aging. Those with more sagging skin or higher levels of sun damage will need more sessions in order to achieve desired results. However, this facial won’t be effective for those with higher levels of sagging skin, or extreme sun damage.
The microcurrent facial uses a low-level electrical current to re-educate the facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, decreased elasticity, or sun damage. Your skin will look tighter, healthier, and more youthful. It boosts collagen production, as well as elastin. It’s a non-invasive, no downtime face-lift. It sculpts, tones, and tightens the skin! This facial, unlike the HIFU provides results, no matter the degree of sun damage or sagging skin. It’s painless and overall a wonderful anti-aging facial.
Hyperpigmentation, sun-damaged skin, acne scarring:
Whether you have acne scars you want to get rid of, or any type of pigmentation, such as sun damage, dark spots, or even to correct a laser peel gone wrong, we highly recommend getting a microneedling facial.
Microneedling or CIT:
Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is great for those with hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone, as well as those with acne scarring. It’s an FDA-approved treatment that uses micro-needles to boost collagen production. It can be used for fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, scarring, or enlarged pores.
Dull skin can be a result of many different factors. One of them is the lack of exfoliation. Exfoliating your skin is very important. A facial that we absolutely love, and a very popular facial with our clients at the moment, is the dermaplane oxi-glow facial, or the 4 layer glow peel facial.
The dermaplane facial is a super popular facial that seems to be all the rage! And for good reason. You may or may not remember when insta and youtube famous makeup guru Huda Kattan (Huda Beauty) broke the internet when she shaved her face for flawless makeup application. Well, the dermaplane follows a similar concept except it’s done by a professional esthetician, and with a surgical knife, instead of a common razor. The surgical knife is used to very gently remove the layer of dead skin cells, as well as peach fuzz from the face. This helps the skin be able to absorb your skincare much better, and it also allows for a flawless makeup application! At the spa, we combine this facial with a hyaluronic acid bubble mask, and oxygen ampoule for a beautiful healthy glow.
4 Layer Peel Glow:
The 4 Layer Glow Peel is a Bella Reina Spa exclusive. This 4 layer peel starts with a lactic acid peel, followed by a lemon or cranberry enzyme peel. Then, a raspberry scrub is applied, followed by a goji berry yogurt mask. It helps your skin get back a healthy glow. It’s perfect for treating different types of skin including dull skin, tired skin, dry skin, rosacea, or even for pregnant women! It tightens, brightens, and renews your skin.
Acne-prone skin tends to be sensitive, and it’s important to not irritate the skin or over-dry the skin. Instead, it’s important to find the right treatment in order to heal your skin. And yes, acne can heal, and it’s a treatable condition. Don’t lose hope, it’s all about finding the right facial.
Acne PDT Facial:
The Acne PDT Facial includes several steps to heal the skin. It starts with skin decongestion, removal of blackheads and whiteheads. Then, we follow up with a double cleanse, an enzyme peel, extractions, and a mask. This facial is customized to each person, according to their own needs. Each acne skin is different and it’s important with acne to not just treat the acne, but find the root cause of the acne, in order to properly treat it, for healthy-looking skin.
How to make your facials last longer:
How long results last will depend on the type of facial you get. Some are more permanent and will last longer than others. However, your skincare routine can help extend the effects of your facial. The key to healthy skin isn’t just regular facials, but also how you care for your skin at home and skincare products you use. A great facial cleanser, hydrating serums, a great moisturizer, weekly exfoliation, and of course SPF will maintain your skin looking and feeling its best.
To determine what facial is best for your skin type, we always recommend a consultation with a licensed professional. This will help set up a course of action and use a combination of facials and a great skincare routine to help you reach your skincare goals. You can always schedule a consultation with our licensed estheticians!
